Course Overview
Research suggests that mental training can bring flexibility, strength, and healing to the mind and emotions like stretching and massage brings to the body. Mental training for athletes came to vogue after Russia won sixty-nine medals their first Olympic games in 1952. Russia was eventually forced to disclose their secret. They used hypnosis with their athletes.
This course is designed to prepare you to use hypnotic or ‘mental training’ techniques with athletes of all disciplines from skiing and gymnastics to weight training and track. This cutting edge approach to athletics is just becoming integrated at the collegiate and high school level. Amateurs, competitors, and professional alike are coming to understand the potential of adding ‘mental training’ techniques to their regimen. This course will prepare you to not only work with athletes, coaches, or groups but to educate and inform them about mental sports training in general.
As a mental coach you don’t need to know the details of every sport. You will however need to know the basics. This course will provide you with the techniques for becoming an excellent mental coach. You’ll learn how your job is to reinforce what athletes are doing well and help them release fears or beliefs that are detracting from their success. You’ll learn to work with clients to prevent ‘choking’ and ‘burnout.’
This course will prepare you to help clients hone their skill of ‘mental rehearsal’ and train them to use self-hypnosis and visualization techniques. Learn how to generate a sense of expectancy to inspire client’s to use the tools you offer. Inspire clients to acknowledge that that whatever they think they are they're infinitely more than that. Help your athletic client to see that mental training is about working smarter not necessarily harder.

"Before hypnosis I had a difficult time controlling my emotions while playing golf. I learned the proper way of thinking by developing positive images and confidence in my subconscious through hypnosis. By practicing these skills with the light and sound machine and having them in place while I compete, I feel totally confident in my abilities to achieve my goals. Thank you for allowing me to understand how to control my mind and I can't wait to use my new and improved mental skills in 2005 and for the rest of my career!"
