Hypnosis For Smoking Cessation & Weight Control



Course Overview


By far “Can it help me lose weight?” And “Can it help me quit smoking?” are two of the most common questions people have about hypnosis.

 

The answer is yes!

 

One half of this course will fully prepare you to use hypnosis successfully for weight control. This includes learning the underlying issues from which overeating or self-esteem issues stem. This course will introduce the most common root cause issues that underpin weight and body image problems. You’ll be prepared to raise and address each ‘cluster’ of related issues with confidence and compassion.

 

In 2000 - 2001, an estimated 3 million Canadian adults were categorized as obese. An additional 6 million were categorized as overweight. This includes Canada in what the World Health Organization has called ‘a global obesity epidemic.’

 

By redirecting that energy wasted in battling oneself toward greater inherent wisdom in terms of food, consumption, and our sense of self we can overcome unconsciously driven urges. Rather than wasting time and energy continuing to fight urges, and conquer desires related to food and eating we literally rewrite our internal script through hypnosis. We weed out confused connections between food and pleasure that have trapped us in unhealthy relationships with food and our body. Thus giving our natural healthy inclinations more room to grow and flourish and become our stronger overriding guidance system. Each positive experience we have strengthens our new improved attitudes, ideas, and beliefs about food and eating that are planted during hypnosis.

 

The second half of this course will prepare you to manage smoking cessation using hypnosis. As we know the list of potential health risks from smoking continues to grow.

 

Helping people stop smoking is one of the most common therapeutic uses of hypnosis. In scientific studies the use of hypnosis has been shown to be three times more effective than other methods of smoking cessation with a success rate of about 30 percent. Hypnosis has the power to break the link between trigger activities that smokers associate with having a cigarette. Of course there are numerous stimuli that can trigger the desire to smoke. It might be visiting a bar for a drink with friends, experiencing stress at home, or taking a ten-minute coffee break at work; a stressful telephone call, a business meeting, or finishing a meal. Hypnosis offers the unique ability to direct suggestions to the smoker's unconscious where these powerful trigger links can at last be removed or replaced. The hypnotist first asks questions to identify an individual's specific triggers.

 

The suggestions will focus on the health benefits of not smoking such as, improved sense of taste, more money, and better health rather than focusing on the negatives. The trick to success is breaking the smoker’s habit patterns.

Day One & Two: Weight Control

In this course you will learn,

  • Creating a comfortable and supportive environment

  • Recognizing which issues are most dominant

  • Specific hypnosis skills and techniques for weight control

    • Evaluation

    • Induction

    • How to build effective scripts

    • Appropriate post-hypnotic suggestions

    • Effective exit techniques

 

Day Three & Four: Smoking Cessation

In this course you will learn,

  • The most common issues related to smoking
  • Creating a comfortable and supportive environment
  • Understanding how hypnosis works for smoking
  • Recognizing resistance
  • Specific hypnosis skills and techniques for smoking cessation
  • Evaluation
  • Induction
  • How to build effective scripts
  • Appropriate post-hypnotic suggestions
  • Effective exit techniques

Clinical Hypnotherapist
