Hypnosis for Clinical Issues

Course Overview

Clinical Hypnotherapy includes using the science of psychology with hypnotic techniques to understand, prevent, and relieve psychologically based pain or dysfunction. The goal of Clinical Hypnotherapy is to promote individual well being and personal development.  Because people often look to hypnotherapy as a ‘magic’ cure to all their life’s problems vulnerable people with real problems turn up looking for help.

The first time I had to communicate professionally with other practitioners their use of jargon totally threw me off. Practicing hypnotherapy requires not only the ability to identify clinical issues appropriately but the ability to discuss symptoms and issues with psychologists and other practitioners. Clear and effective communication among practitioners is necessary for all around client success. Even making accurate and appropriate referrals can be complicated.

I learned that there are certain basic clinical issues that are often brought to a hypnotherapist. A large part of what is crucial for success is an awareness of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM 4 TR). Numerous common clinical issues such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, and ADD/ADHD are certain to show up on your doorstep. A successful practitioner must be able to communicate not only with other professionals in professional terms but with increasingly well informed clients.

This Hypnosis For Clinical Issues course offers what others learn the hard way. Knowing how to identify clinical issues according to the manual that clinicians use for diagnostics is a priceless skill. Hypnotherapists are considered to be ‘experts.’ We must establish professional trust with both our clients and other professionals. Earning a solid reputation in the professional community can often play an important role in our success as a hypnotherapy practitioner. Hypnotherapy may be a place they can turn to even if as a ‘last resort’ because they have no where else to go. But that means having strong professional skills and rapport.
