What is a Sound and Light Machine?
A Sound & Light machine is a safe and drug-free technology that gently coaxes your brain into more resourceful states through the use of sound & light pulses that match the desired brain frequencies.
What are Binaural Beats?
Binaural beat generation is a sound feature on most Mind Place (Synetic Systems) products. Using two sound synthesizers in the audio circuit, and by specifying slightly different sound frequencies for the left and right channels, it is possible to induce a third frequency which is the difference between the left and right in the mind of the user. This is known as a binaural beat frequency generation. The perceived beat frequency is especially useful as an entrainment tool when paired with pulsing lights.
Why are LED's used instead of Incandescent Lights?
Light emitting diodes -- LED's -- are state of the art solid state devices that convert small amounts of electrical energy into light. They can be switched on and off much faster than incandescent lights, producing the crisp strobe-like pulses which have been shown to be most effective at inducing patterns of brainwave activity. They also create very pure colors -- again an important factor in the alteration of consciousness and brainwave activity.
What is Wavetable Crossfading?
Proteus includes four different, user-editable audio waveforms. The waveform, pitch etc. can change from segment to segment, and to avoid a startling "hop" from one to the next, we smoothly mix them together at the segment boundaries; this is called "crossfading".
What is BioConnect?
BioConnect(tm) describes our (Synetic System's) biofeedback/light and sound interlink protocol, which enables the automatic, real-time control of light/sound sessions from certain biofeedback systems, such as ThoughtStream.
What's the difference between the Sound & Light Entrainment and EEG Treatments that are available?
There really isn't much difference in result. The EEG Treatments use biofeedback and Sound & Light technology as well. The difference is in the equipment used, the EEG equipment is more sophisticated (though not necessarily better) and can measure your brain waves, where as our Thought Stream Biofeedback unit measures skin conductivity (which is another method of measuring state of relaxation or excitation). In short, the results are the same and the difference is in cost - we have less over-head and can afford to pass the savings on to our clients.
How long do the effects last?
Although the experience is slightly different for everyone, it has been reported that the effects can last up to 4 days (just like a good massage). With repetition, the effects are said to last longer. You are training your brain to use certain frequencies more often. Repetition creates new Neuro-pathways and so the more you use it, the more training your brain receives and the more able it is to maintain the desired state..
Are there any dangers involved in using a S.L.S.?
Those who are prone to seizures, hallucinations and other physical or mental problems should use this machine only with their doctor's consent.
